Stewart Hospital to give Daisy Award

LAKE CITY – Stewart Memorial Community Hospital will present the Daisy Award to a registered nurse who goes above and beyond providing excellent everyday bedside care to patients and families. Award recipients can be nominated by peers, physicians, patients and families and other staff.

The nonprofit Daisy Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, Calif., and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Barnes, 33, died in 1999. The care he and his family received inspired this way of thanking nurses for making a difference.

Nomination forms are available at the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital business office, outpatient registration, all McCrary-Rost clinics, and on the website at The nomination deadline is April 8.
