Evelyn Shaw, 101, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and formerly of Lanyon, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Prince of Peace Home in Sioux Falls.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Lanyon Covenant Church, in Lanyon Iowa, with Rev. Marc Murchison and Rev. John Duval Co-officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, in Lost Grove Cemetery near Harcourt. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Gowrie.

Grateful for having shared her life were two daughters; Mary Jane Mashek of Sioux Falls (deceased) and Jeanette Thomas of Maggie Valley, NC, and two sons; Norman Shaw of Scottsdale, AZ and Stephen Shaw of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one brother (Clarence Lambert), one sister-in-law (Lois Lambert), and several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Linnea Ingrid Shaw was born on a farm in Paton, IA on November 30, 1911 to Fred and Jennie Lambert. Her family moved to a farm in Dayton, IA, and she graduated from Dayton High School. After graduation she entered nurses training at Augustana Hospital of Nursing in Chicago. She also attended Moody Bible Institute and Northern Seminary in Chicago. In 1934 she married Benjamin Shaw, a seminary student. Upon his graduation, they served in the ministry for 30 years in Illinois and Iowa.

She joyfully lived life and loved being a preacher’s wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and nurse. Her retirement consisted of more than 30 years was spent in Phoenix. She enjoyed Phoenix with a passion and enjoyed great church, great friends, and being near family. She spent the last four years living in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorials may be left to “The Chosen People” or “American Bible Society”.
