One dead in Wright Co. crash

CLARION An early morning accident left one person dead and another injured just west of Clarion Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on Iowa Highway 3 around 6:50 a.m., according to Lt. Kelly Hindman of the Iowa State Patrol.

A 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan, driven by Lisa Ann Berry, 47, of Rockwell City, was traveling eastbound on Highway 3 about one and a half miles west of Clarion. Hindman said a 2005 Dodge Durango, driven by Dean E. Johnson, 44, of Livermore, was traveling west on the same highway.

According to Hindman, Berrys minivan crossed the center line and crashed head-on into Johnsons vehicle.

Berry was pronounced dead at the scene. Hindman said she was not wearing her seat belt.

Johnson was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Wright County Sheriffs Department, Clarion Police Department, Clarion Fire Department and Clarion Ambulance Service.

Hindman said the collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
