Pomeroy house burns down

POMEROY – A home at 306 Seneca St., at the corner of Seneca and West Elm streets, in Pomeroy was destroyed by fire early this morning.

No injuries were reported, but firefighters from at least four communities were called to battle the blaze. The fire was reported by someone living in the home.

According to a representative of Equity Gateway, the house was purchased by John Lanfers and Tonya Klein. Equity Gateway is the deed holder according to the Calhoun County Assessor’s department.

There is no official cause of the fire. However, it appears it could have been started by a corn-burning stove that may have been inside the house.
