Upset by IOC action

To the editor:

Along with many Iowans, Americans and wrestling fans all over the world, I was shocked by the International Olympic Committee’s decision to drop wrestling from the Olympics.

But the decision is not final and a severe push back from fans of wrestling worldwide could persuade the IOC to backtrack and reverse their decision. Letters and phone calls to the IOC, to the U.S. Olympic Committee and to CBS, NBC, ESPN and other prospective bidders for television rights to future Olympic games will help apply pressure.

Letters to your congressmen and senators as well as to your local paper asking others to voice their dissent will help as well. Finally, if the decision is not changed in the coming months I will stop making purchases from Olympic sponsors because if all else fails, you can always vote with your wallet.
