OWATONNA, Minn. – Janella Sue Sanburn, nee Charlson, of Owatonna, Minnesota went home to be with her beloved Lord and Savior on February 8, 2013, after a courageous, 5-plus-years long battle with cancer.

Janella was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, on February 26, 1960, the youngest of eight children to Melbourne and Naomi (Trotter) Charlson. She was raised in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1978.

Janella was united in marriage to Brian Sanburn on December 21, 1985, in Sterling, Illinois.

Janella Sanburn is survived by her husband Brian; four children, Josiah, Caleb, Benjamin and Jared; her mother, Naomi Hill of Dakota City; sisters Janine Witte of Ft. Dodge; Janet (and Mike) Craig of Ft. Dodge; and Joyce (and Terry) Nerhus of Badger; brothers Doug (and SuJean) Charlson of Caliente, NV, Dorian (and Pam) Charlson of Des Moines; Daryl (and Kelly) Charlson of Ankeny; and Dennis Charlson of Humboldt; many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews as well as countless friends.

Janella was preceded in death her father Melbourne Charlson and her step-father Alva D. Hill.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church. The family asks that in lieu of gifts, donations be made to the Gerson Institute (“A non-profit organization in San Diego, CA, dedicated to providing education and training in the Gerson Therapy, an alternative, non-toxic treatment for cancer and other chronic degenerative diseases.”).
