LAKE CITY – Virginia Norgard, 98, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with Rev. Betty Weidert officiating and burial will be in the Carnarvon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Virginia is survived by her sons Alfred of Livingston, LA and Charles of Lake City, IA; 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Marie Sherwood, husband Stuart in 1997, brother George Schott and sister Sarah Chaplin.

Virginia Sherwood Schott was born on April 28, 1914 at Sioux City, IA to Alfred and Marie (Sherwood) Schott. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, TX in 1932 and on June 5, 1937 Virginia was married to Stuart Norgard at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Chicago, IL. Virginia worked as a secretary for Pan American Life Insurance Company in New Orleans, LA for more than 25 years before retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the Lake City Union Church, Mary E. Chapter 240 Order of the Eastern Star in Ottawa, IL where she was past matron, White Shrine of Jerusalem and was past worthy high priestess, and Daughters of American Colonists.
