Taylor’s art is on exhibit at Des Moines gallery
DES MOINES – Fort Dodge artist Madai Taylor will have an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mobery Gallery, 2921 Ingersoll Ave., Des Moines.
Taylor’s exhibit, “The Wilderness Experience Between Heaven and Earth,” will run through March 23. He will give an artist’s talk at 11 a.m. Saturday at the gallery.
Taylor will also give an artist’s talk on March 1 at the Moberg Gallery for a fundraiser for the Variety Club of Iowa. For more information, contact the gallery, 279-9191.
Referring to his work, Taylor said, “I use earth as an artistic medium because I am drawn to its tones, colors and textures. With earth as my medium, I am able to express a non-objective visual language that is unique, natural and soulish. I am intrigued with earth’s mysterious bond to life, the cycles of the seasons and death. Similar to the cycle of life, my artwork begins and ends as earth.”
Taylor has also had an exhibit at the Blanden Memorial Art Museum in 2009 entitled “A Measure of Grace.” He is the pastor of Agape Wheel of Compassion Ministries in Fort Dodge.
