Leola Ilene (Fischer) McKinley passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and is now reunited with husband Paul Foster McKinley who left us several years ago. Leola is survived by sisters Bethel Harrington and Wilma Ralston, two sons, Terry and Robert: five grandchildren, Christopher, Danita, Aaron, Thomas, & Kristina; and six great grandchildren: Chloe, Isaac, Bella, Caleb, Kieran, Madelyn
Paul and Leola were devoted to each other, and to their ministry in Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist churches. Paul also served for several years as chaplain at the United Methodist retirement campus, Friendship Village, in Fort Dodge, and later were residents and volunteers there, until Leola’s passing.
We will celebrate their lives on January 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Celebration Center at Friendship Haven. Another funeral service will be January 29, 2013 in Chariton, IA, where they lived for many years after they retired, and where friends and relatives reside today.
Leola will be interred next to Paul in a small cemetery outside Russell, Iowa, where Paul’s father left farming to become an ordained pastor. God has surely prepared a place for them, and both have been eager to meet again.
Let us celebrate their reunion, and the love of God they felt so deeply. Fielding Funeral Home of Chariton and Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.
