CLARE – Malcolm T. Hunt, 94, of Clare, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at his son’s residence.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Barnum, IA. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Hospice, Elderbridge or to Calvary Missions.

Malcolm Thomas Hunt, the son of Waldo and Mabel (Wise) Hunt, was born May 29, 1918, in Ocheydan, Iowa, where he was reared and educated. On June 20, 1945, Malcolm was united in marriage to Gloria Janssen in Sibley, IA. Malcolm worked as a farm hand for many years and then was employed at the Co-op in Clare until his retirement.

Malcolm was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Barnum. He enjoyed fishing, camping and doing handyman projects. Malcolm treasured time spent rocking in his chair with his grandchildren.

Malcolm is survived by his children, Edith (Ron) Bashor of Green Valley, AZ, Dan (Barb) Hunt of Clare, IA, Carole (Tony) Frisina of Gastonia, NC, Mary (Kerry) Balm of Belmond, IA and Margaret (Gary) Barrier of Peculiar, MO; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; his sister Emilie Summers; and his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lois Abels, Jerry (Lee) Janssen and Peggy Seivert. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria, his grandson Jonathan Farmer, his brother Rosswell Hunt and his sister Cornelia Clanton.
