CARROLL – Eugene Kolbe, 87, died Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Carroll, with burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Carroll.

Eugene Lewis Kolbe was born on August 23, 1925 at Farnhamville, Iowa to Benjamin and Luella (Kruse) Kolbe. He graduated from Lohrville High School in 1943 and on July 18, 1946 he was married to Betty Lou Schug in Lake City. Eugene served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. He worked as a farmer and later as a salesman until his death. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Carroll.

Eugene is survived by his wife Betty, of Carroll, children Roger Kolbe, of Carroll, Kathy Fish, of Plymouth, MN, Randy (Kris) Kolbe, of Solon, IA and Kelly (Judy) Kolbe, of Arvada, CO, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, brother Robert (Carey) Kolbe, of Castle Rock, CO, and sister Anna Mae Walker, of Bath, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Dana Fish, brother Arthur Kolbe, sister-in-law Marge Kolbe, son-in-law Don Fish.
