POCAHONTAS – Agnes M. Nedved, age 88, of Pocahontas, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Funeral Services are 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa with Fr. Paul Bormann and Fr. Dennis Sefcik officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas, Iowa. Visitation is from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Iowa. Special Services: CD of A Rosary at 4:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Agnes Mary Schumann was born June 17, 1924, in Fonda, IA. She was the daughter of Henry & Mary (Engeldinger) Schumann. She graduated from Fonda High School in 1942 and received normal teachers training. She worked in the office at National Tea Grocery and Brooks Laundry in Fort Dodge. On August 19, 1946, Agnes married Albert Nedved at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Fonda. The couple raised their family and farmed in the Pocahontas community. Agnes was an integral part of the family farming operation.

Agnes was a charter member of the Pocahontas chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, the Catholic Ladies Society, Marshall Township Farm Women’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary and several women’s and couple’s card clubs. She enjoyed family and friends, playing bridge, needlework, gardening and cooking. Agnes was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 66 years, Albert; daughters, Beverly (Marshall) Amoroso, North Liberty and Mary (Mick) Potter, Iowa City; son, Richard (Joan) Nedved, Pocahontas; six grandchildren, Jill (Matt) Tentinger, Iowa City; Molly Amoroso, New York City; Alex Potter, Coralville; Peter (Sarah) Nedved, Coal Valley, IL; Ben (Jill) Nedved, Humboldt; and Matt Nedved, Dubuque; eight great-grandchildren, Lily and Emma Tentinger; Maggie, Gus, John, and Leo Nedved; Andrew and Ethan Nedved; and sisters-in-law, Lavon (Leo) Francis of Palmer and Colleen (Lanny) Paul of Pocahontas and many nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark; and sister, Catherine Adrian.
