$20K in stolen goods found

A six-month investigation into a series of burglaries and thefts has led to the recovery of more than $20,000 in stolen property and the arrest of a man in connection with the case.

Michael T. Redenius, 29, was arrested on Friday and charged with ongoing criminal conduct.

Fort Dodge police executed a search warrant Friday at 3003 Seventh Ave. S., where Redenius was arrested. According to Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody, officers found “a variety of hand and power tools, chain saws, vehicle and heavy equipment tires, all terrain vehicles, lawn and yard equipment and a moped.”

Carmody said police, the Webster County Sheriff’s Department and the Webster County attorney’s office had worked together to investigate the burglaries and thefts in the Fort Dodge and Webster County area. That investigation included evidence, leads, interviews with witnesses and a series of search warrants, he said.

Also arrested Friday was Brittany J. Cook-Redenius, 23. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.

Both Redenius and Cook-Redenius were booked into the Webster County Jail.

Authorities are now trying to identify the owners of the recovered property, according to Carmody. He said the owners will be contacted by investigators once they determine who the property belongs to.

Despite Friday’s arrest, Carmody said the investigation is still ongoing. Investigators will follow up on any more information they receive, as well as talk to any witnesses, he said.
