John A. Koestner, 58, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, formerly of Fort Dodge and Duncombe, passed away at his home on January 7, 2013 of an apparent heart attack.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

John Albert Koestner was born in Fort Dodge, IA on March 5, 1954. He grew up on the family farm in rural Duncombe and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1972. John was united in marriage to Rhonda Julius on April 1, 1978. He was a farmer until 1984 when he then pursued a career as a carpenter until he retired due to disabling fibromyalgia. John moved to Ash Flat, Arkansas in 2010 after purchasing his dream cedar log home. John will always be remembered for his generosity, his compassion, and most of all, his love of his Savior Jesus Christ. He loved his family deeply and had a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Signe Gustafson, of Humboldt; Albert and Olive Koestner, of Duncombe; his parents, Marvin and Eileen Koestner, of Duncombe. He is survived by his wife Rhonda; his children, Kelly Koestner, Kassie Koestner, Karrie Koestner, and his angel, Kristalyn Koestner; grandchildren, Cequoyah Sampson, Claire Jones, Dylan Bell, and Justice Koestner-Bell; his brother Gary Green, of Humboldt, and sister Helen Johnson, of Fort Dodge; along with many nieces and nephews.
