WATERLOO – Lois A. Topliff, 93, of Waterloo, formerly of Gilmore City, died Friday at New Aldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls.

She was born August 19, 1919 in rural Pocahontas County, Iowa, daughter of Robert and Anna Beneke Wiegert. Lois was raised by her grandmother after her mother died when she was eight. She married George A. Topliff in 1941 in Waterloo and worked with him as a partner in farming for 70 years. He died March 3, 1997.

Lois graduated from Gilmore City High School and from a business school in Chillicothe, Mo. She was a secretary in a law firm in Gilmore City.

Survived by: three sons, Robert of Waterloo, Paul (Janice) of Alva, Florida and Jerold (Rhonda) of Elm Grove, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Bernard and Raymond Wiegert; a sister, Edna Van Gorkum.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, with burial in Marble Valley Cemetery, both in Gilmore City. Public visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church in Gilmore City.
