GILMORE CITY – Gladyce L. Fredin, 83, of Gilmore City, passed away January 5, 2013 at the Pula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa. A Celebration of Her Life Service will be held Wednesday January 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City. Interment will be in Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Gladyce will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, mother, and grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family, and to her loving Savior whom she leaned on many, many times in her life. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her as one of God’s special angels.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ell, having just observed their 64th wedding anniversary on December 26, 2012; two sons and one daughter, Tom of Dayton, OH, Tary of Gilmore City, and Tonya Bern of Amana; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Tim, in 2008; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Toft; infant brother, Paul; and sister, Shirley Wede.

Gladyce Fredin was born June 22, 1929 at Royal, Iowa. She graduated from Royal High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Ell C. Fredin on December 26, 1948 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Royal, Iowa. She worked as personal secretary to the Assistant Dean of Home Economics at Iowa State while her husband attended college there. When Ell graduated in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree, Gladyce reminded him that she received her PHT degree as well (Put Hubby Through!). This was a friendly topic that she enjoyed sharing with others! Lastly, but more important was the fact that she was truly faithful in her church attendance, was also a teacher for the week-day programs years ago, and took part in the Ladies’ Circle activities. In recent times, her health prevented her from participating.
