ODEBOLT – Harris “Tiny” Thompson, age 87, of Odebolt, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at the Odebolt Nursing & Rehab Center.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Dee Ann Klapp will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Odebolt Cemetery. Born December 16, 1925, in Ida County, Iowa, Harris Theodore “Tiny” Thompson was the son of Alvin and Mabel (Linhult) Thompson. He received his education in Ida Grove, graduating from Ida Grove High School in 1943.

On July 10, 1949, Harris was united in marriage to Mary Jeanne Meyer at the Odebolt Methodist Church. The couple farmed north of Odebolt in Clinton Township for many years. They moved into Odebolt in 1988.

Tiny was a member of the United Methodist Church in Odebolt. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and jigsaw puzzles. He also enjoyed buying and selling cattle.

Survivors include four sons, David (Susan) Thompson of Fort Dodge, Chuck (Pam) Thompson of Bloomington, IN, Tim Thompson of Odebolt, and Todd (Teri) Thompson of Ames; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Katelyn, and Brent Thompson, Sarah (Carter) Figg, Tayli, Ty, Josh (Krista), and Tasha Thompson; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Jeanne in 2010; a sister, Myrtle Barker; and three brothers, Robert “Tom,” Willard “Bill,” and Wayne “Brick” Thompson.
